Stereo Skyline in NY Times!

"THE members of Stereo Skyline seem pleased with the band’s current position on the musical spectrum that ranges from kiddie-pop acts to mainstream stars.

“We definitely share fans with Justin Bieber,” said Rob Michelson, 22, the band’s drummer. “But we’ve also played with bands like LMFAO and Good Charlotte” — LMFAO is California-based hip-hop, Good Charlotte a heavily tattooed rock act — “and we’re completely accepted with those kind of bands and fans, too.”

In other words, the quartet, which formed in 2006 in the East Meadow home of the front man, Kevin Bard, 20, and released its debut album, “Stuck on Repeat,” on Columbia Records last summer, has managed to avoid being pigeonholed in pop-music circles.

What they have not been able to escape is the sometimes overwhelming ardor of their female fans.

“Fifteen-year-old girls scream when they see us,” said Brian Maddox, 20, the band’s Los Angeles-based bassist. “In the beginning, it was sort of surreal. But we’re kind of getting used to it.” He was sitting with his bandmates in a run-down trailer behind the Crazy Donkey here before a recent Sunday-evening show at the club, where Stereo Skyline was headlining a bill of six groups.

Mr. Bard, the lead singer and songwriter, and Mr. Michelson, both of East Meadow, are founding members; Mr. Maddox and the guitarist Clayton Johnson, 21, of Hollywood, Calif., left other bands to join Stereo Skyline last year after several changes to the original lineup. "
